Hyperthyroidism

Hyperthyroidism or overactive thyroid results in increased production of thyroid hormones from the thyroid gland. It can be primary or secondary and presents with signs of accelerated metabolism such as weight loss and tachycardia. Decreased tolerance to heat and irritability are also common. Radioactive iodine administration and medication to control heartbeat are recommended.

Did anyone here have thyroiditis after a year postpartum? (ETA: So when your child was 1 year old or older). They think I might have this so I am curious about other's experiences.

Finally heard from my endocrinologist after my GP called to tell me I’m now hypothyroidism! So now no more Methimazole for ten days then back to half a Methimazole after that! I’m afraid this journey may hurt!

Anyone here take an antiviral? My nucca chiro has got my tsh 1.37 but I still have some symptoms here and there. We believe all of this started with EBV. I’ve seen one person here take an antiviral and fix their thyroid I just can’t remember who it was.

My first endocrinologist appointment and blood work was $1000. This can’t be normal. Over $500 to just test the TSH.

I had an over active thyroid 2 years ago. It was put down to an infection by my consultant and I was discharged. Now it’s back I went for a routine check up and the doctor says it’s very high again and I should be feeling really poorly but at present I’m not. Any ideas what is going on? I have a rep...

Who has decided to find out what the underlying issue of their Graves is stemming from? I hate that I am resorting to Methimazole! Being healthy most of my life and having Shingles and thyroid issues pop up (well so I believe). I want to have some further blood tests done before considering RAI or s...

Anyone else's eyes puffy swollen, burning constantly watering? Face swollen? I don't even recognize myself.

Was just informed by the endocrinologist that my results weren’t better, even though my t3 had can back in normal range my TSH had dropped by 0.0010! So they increased my Methimazole to 10 mg!

I found out I have hyperthyroidism a month ago after having severe symptoms the last year. Other symptoms over a few years. I’ve been on beta blockers the last month. Was not working or helping my symptoms at all. I can’t see the endocrinologist for another month. I went to the hospital and got new...

I just got my ultrasound done and my blood test after 7 years of not going back to my endocrinologist because I chose to take some herbal things. My blood test says everything was normal already that's why the endocrinologist doesn't need to give me any medicine. They just found some nodule on my ri...
